PROGRAMME SYNOPSIS

The early childhood education programme is to prepare students to work within the careers working with children and young people in many sectors including health, education and social care and technologically driven, global, communication revolution of the 21st Century bearing in mind the Fourth Industrial Revolution made possible by advent of Internet 4.0. The degree provides an interdisciplinary, multimedia approach to the study of children by examining the relationship between theory and practice. The programme aims at providing students with the specific skills, knowledge and flexibility required to understand how the knowledge of early childhood is used to communicate meaning, preparing them for a complex and rapidly changing world. The programme will focus on developing students who can absorb technology and professionalism, in their relationship with humanity which shapes the local, regional and world environment. Furthermore, the programme aims at producing graduates who are competitive, innovative and creative in line with market demand and ethics required for the corporate world.  The programme goal is to provide quality education meeting standards comparable and compatible with any good Early Childhood Education curriculum leading to bright careers and prospects in higher education. In addition, the programme provides creative and innovative curriculum relating to social context and meets the Higher Order Thinking (HOT) requirements; infused with adequate knowledge, skills and attitude in the discipline of Early Childhood Education, within the context of cross cultural perspectives, with human values of consideration, integrity, professionalism, and sought after the understanding of Islamic perspective in peace and cooperation with others.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • A pass in the AIU’s Foundation Studies or other recognised Matriculation or Foundation with a CGPA of not less than 2.8 and fulfilment of all other requirements for promotion to the first year of the undergraduate degree programme, OR
  • Three principal passes of ‘C’ grades in the Malaysian STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia) examination, OR
  • At least three principal passes (minimum Grade D) in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE ‘A’ Level) Examination (UK Educational System) obtained in one sitting, OR
  • Any other certificate that is recognised by the Senate as equivalent to one of the above, OR
  • Open Entry Admission Qualification: Criteria outlined by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) under the Open Entry Admission System and Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) as approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
  • IELTS (Band 5.0) or TOEFL (500) or MUET (Band 2.0)
