founder letter

Every now and then, we need to pause and ponder on how things are, and how we make it even better. That is what we are currently doing at Albukhary Foundation as we approach our 20th anniversary in 2016. Overall, the foundation has had a good ride. I am pleased with the reach and the impact we have had so far.

We have lined up some exciting activities to celebrate our 20th anniversary on March 5 next year and a committee has been formed to look into this.

Meanwhile, the Albukhary Foundation is on track in the rebranding exercise for the Albukhary International University (AiU) and I’m pleased to note that all efforts are being put to ensure its opening in the second half of next year.

I look forward to see the reopening of the campus at Alor Setar for the first intake of students under a rebranding effort that is wholesome between the students and the AiU on the one hand, and the AiU and the capital town of Alor Setar in the state of Kedah, on the other hand. It will also be an enchanting experience because the students, the University and Alor Setar will be in for a whole new world of inspiration that arises from the unique niche of the University and its distinctive architecture.

Also, the Albukhary Irsyad International School (AIIS) is already in full speed to take in its first batch of students in January next year. With this, my vision of a premier Islamic mission school for the future would have come to fruition.

The Albukhary Care Funeral Van Services was introduced in October this year to help the poor and needy families of the deceased in managing the burial of their loved ones. Although this scheme is meant for families living in the rural areas, the target group is mainly focussed on the workers, the elderly and the young who had migrated to the cities or the capital states in search of employment opportunities, and hence are residents of the cities.

Therefore, we are emphasising on the cities where there are huge concentration of local migrants especially at the capital cities of the states in Malaysia for this funeral van scheme.

We at the Albukhary Foundation are always looking for ways and means at introducing new schemes and services and also continuously improving the existing schemes and services to better the lives of as many people as possible. This is in line with our Vision of “Making A Difference”.

My sincere and heart-felt appreciation to all the staff at the Albukhary Foundation for making a difference to the lives of many.

Yours sincerely,

Syed Mokhtar Albukhary
